Long Term Care Partnership Education Coming SoonNorth Carolina has adopted effective March 7, 2011 the Long-term Care Partnership Program. This “partnership” creates a new Long-term Care insurance policy. The policy is designed to protect the assets of individuals who may need long-term care nursing and would eventually need the help of Medicaid to pay the continuing cost of the care. Licensees will have special requirements.Any person licensed to sell Medicare Supplement and Long-term Care insurance will be required to take an 8 hour continuing education course if they wish to sell the Long-term Care Partnership Policy. This will be a special continuing education course approved by the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI). The course will also be open for CE credits to anyone that does not hold the MedSupp/LTC license as general credits. No matter who takes the course they will receive 8 hours of CE credits. This course will be full of useful information to everyone. For individuals that are going to sell the Long-term Care Partnership policy, the requirement must be met during the calendar year of 2011.
